See Miley Cyrus Perform Two Safe-for-Work ‘Bangerz’ on Her TV Special

Miley Cyrus‘ two-hour NBC special was not the twerking, jerking weed commercial her Bangerz tour often can be on the road, but it did capture a few shenanigans from recent concerts in Spain and Portugal. In addition to showing her ride down a giant tongue slide, working out on the hood of a car and dancing with furries, Miley Cyrus: Bangerz Tour caught her backstage, singing Dolly Parton and hanging with her sister. But really, it was a showcase that Cyrus can indeed sing and perform outside of (or maybe more accurately alongside) the controversies.

“Wrecking Ball” found the former Ms. Montana dressed in a white unitard that looked akin to either a one-piece swimsuit with a hood or something swiped from the backstage of an Eighties Ice Capades, as an audience bathed in blue lights belted out the chorus to the torch song – no Terry Richardson–invoked nudity needed.

Meanwhile, “We Can’t Stop” – Cyrus’ tonguey, twerktastic show-stealer at the VMAs less than a year ago – was presented as the singing-kitty-assisted version she showcased at the American Music Awards last November. But that’s not to say she didn’t splurge on dancers wearing giant foam Number One hands, women dressed as cigarette lighters and one dressed like a blunt in a way vague enough to fool TV censors.
